Roller ski Pole FerrulesYou can use your regular poles for rolling, but you should get special carbide tips or ferrules that won't slip on the pavement. Jenex makes the most durable as most of the other brands have a tendency to break. Simply dip your current poles into boiling water for a moment and the current ferrules will pull right off (watch out, they'll be hot). Then use a standard glue gun to load up the new tips and push them on. Pay attention to what direction the tips were pointed when you pull them off. The correct direction might be counter-intuitive (the pointy part should point forward). When the snow flies, just reverse the process. If you opt to get a different set ask a CSU coach about length as the optimal length for rolling might be slightly different than that for snow. For a full description of how to change your tips, see the Rollerski Tips section at left. |
