There is a limited selection of ski merchandise in the Boston area, so a lot of people end up ordering equipment online or going to a larger retailer. For much of your equipment and clothing needs, that is an acceptable approach. However, all skis are not made equally, even if they are the same brand.  To ensure that you buy quality skis, we recommend that you buy them from a retailer who will flex test them for you before your purchase.  Chris Li at Bikeway Source can do this, as well as Zach Caldwell and Nathan Schultz at Boulder Nordic Sport.  For more information about purchasing skis, please contact the coaches.  Other equipment (boots, poles, rollerskis, etc) can normally be purchased elsewhere, but you should always be aware of your size (note that boots for example are not typically sized in US sizes).  And in all cases, particularly the local shops, be sure to mention you are a member of CSU and/or a local school team as there is often a team member discount available.
